Scam Type
Rug Pull & Token Fraud Support
The token launched, the community grew, and then liquidity was removed and the team disappeared. Unlike most fraud, every step of a rug pull is publicly recorded on-chain.
Evidence
Fully public on-chain
Obstacle
Anonymous deployers
Strength
Group reporting
Realistic expectations
Recovery is possible mainly where the deployer can be identified or the proceeds reached a regulated exchange. Where neither is true, the honest answer is that a documented report is the achievable outcome, not a return of funds.
Why documentation still matters
A complete, hash-referenced record of the incident supports tax loss treatment, class actions, exchange delisting decisions, and law-enforcement work on serial deployers who move from project to project.
Beware the follow-up
Rug pull victim lists circulate widely. Expect approaches from 'recovery' accounts promising to reverse the transaction for an upfront fee. On-chain transactions cannot be reversed, and anyone claiming otherwise is running the second scam.
